The new Directive PED 2014/68/EU
The Directive 2014/68/EU of 15 May 2014 balances the laws of Member States relating to making available on the market of equipment pressure (recast) – “pressure equipment” means steam boilers, pressure vessels, piping, safety valves and other components and assemblies subject to pressure loading.
The new Directive 2014/68/EU, known as Directive PED (Pressure Equipment Directive), replaces the Directive 97/23/EC, and must be transposed into national laws by 28 February 2015, at least with regard to the new classification of pressure equipment, that takes account of Regulation (EC) n. 1272/2008 (CLP).
The Directive 97/23/EC, currently in force, carry out a classification of the fluid contained in the pressure equipment according to its level of danger, according to Directive 67/548 / EEC on 1 June 2015 will be repealed and replaced by Regulation (CE) n. 1272/2008 (CLP).
The Directive 97/23 / EC will be repealed as of 19 July 2016.
